Pathways through Emory

Emory University is unique in the fact that it has two entry points into its undergraduate program: Emory College of Arts and Sciences located in Atlanta, and Oxford College located in Oxford, GA (38 miles east of Atlanta). These two colleges are identical in academic offerings and quality, but differ in location and college experience.

Entry Point #1: Emory College of Arts and Sciences is housed in Atlanta, and students can enroll in this college for all four years of their college experience.

Entry Point #2: Oxford College is housed outside of Atlanta on Emory University’s original campus, and serves first and sophomore year students exclusively. After their sophomore year, Oxford students move to the Atlanta campus and continue their bachelor’s degree in Emory College of Arts and Sciences, Goizueta Business School, or the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing.

Emory University also has three exit points out of its undergraduate program, all located in Atlanta: Emory College of Arts and Sciences, Goizueta Business School, or the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing.

Exit Point #1: Emory College of Arts and Sciences, where students can graduate with a bachelor of science (BS) or a bachelor of arts (BA). Students from both Oxford College and Emory College will automatically continue in Emory College if they do not move to the business or nursing school. No prerequisites are required to continue in Emory College.

Exit Point #2: Goizueta Business School, where students can graduate with a bachelor of business administration (BBA) and choose between a variety of concentrations to study. Students need to meet certain prerequisites to enter this school.

Exit Point #3: Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing, where students can graduate with a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN). Students need to meet certain prerequisites to enter this school.

Here is what a four year journey through Emory University’s undergraduate program looks like:

First and Sophomore Year:

Students can start as a first-year at either Emory College of Arts and Sciences located in Atlanta, or at Oxford College located in Oxford, GA (38 miles east of Atlanta). They can pursue any of Emory University’s 80+ majors and 60+ minors at either campus and expect Emory’s exceptional faculty and resources wherever they go.

Junior and Senior Year:

After their sophomore year, all Oxford students move to Emory’s Atlanta campus to join their classmates who started there and continue their studies at either Emory College of Arts and Sciences, Goizueta Business School, or the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing. All students then graduate with their bachelor’s degree from Emory University, ready to show the world everything they’ve learned as an Eagle.

If both entry points into Emory University have exceptional and challenging academic programs, which one should I choose?

Both the Atlanta campus and the Oxford campus have so much to offer students.

The Atlanta campus hosts more than 7,000 undergraduate students, with additional graduate students and fellows. Emory College students have their choice of a wide array of student organizations and clubs, a larger selection of courses (though all majors and minors can be pursued at the Oxford campus), and close proximity to all of the shopping, music venues, sports arenas, restaurants, and night life available in the city of Atlanta.

The Oxford campus is smaller than the Atlanta campus, with around 1,000 students in attendance. Oxford College students enjoy the benefit of small class sizes (average class size is 19), direct relationships with their faculty, ample undergraduate leadership opportunities, and a tight-knit community of their peers. Oxford College students then get to move to the Atlanta campus their junior year and take advantage of all the benefits listed above.
